With Rue our Hearts Are Laden

Not Ivy's heart! She's such a happy little girl.

We had a tough and terrible week. After being feted several times the week before, we had to buckle down and pack. We couldn't wait for Grandpa John and Grandma Rachel to get to us and help out. I was so sick on Monday that I don't remember parts of the day -- v. scary with a baby. But Ivy and I are fine now, and except for a few sniffles, she didn't catch my cold. I guess breastfeeding does work.

It was freezing in Calgary this week. Ivy is wearing her friend Leo's sweater and jacket in this picture. She came home and fell asleep before we could get her clothes changed! I think it should be a rule that all baby jackets have ears on the hoods.

It's too cold to walk, so we went to Starbucks several times -- it's our favorite place to be during house showings. And the house is getting closer to being sold. We have a conditional offer (when the buyers sell their house, they'll buy ours. If all goes according to plan, they'll take possesion 10 January) and we anticipate getting a second offer (with no conditions -- these buyers will buy it without an inspection, we hear) in the next few days. We're going to Texas with much lighter hearts then we thought we would be, at least in terms of our room and board.

Grandma and Grandpa were really fun for Ivy to be with. They gave her lots of hugs and kisses. They also worked at packing and especially cleaning after Ivy and I left.

We had some good good-bye times with Mary and Jamie. Sophie and Ivy petted each other nicely, and their moms cried and cried. We hope we'll see them soon, and are already looking forward to seeing Leo and his moms in February.

Next week I'll be telling stories of Ivy's Iowa adventures, and then we'll be in Texas! She'll have to take more baths in the hot weather, but that will be okay, because she's pretty cute in the tub.
