Lucky Seven

Ivy is getting older and bigger and smarter and cuter everyday! She was 7 months old this week (her Auntie Heidi was 38 -- another shout-out on another blog!). She seems so far from the tiny baby we brought home in July that it's hard to believe she's the same girl.

Not much happened this week. We went to school and taught our classes. I think we're both enjoying them more, though we were a little disturbed to hear (at the new faculty lunch) that we were better off not messing with TAMU traditions. There was a lot of talk about how great the students were but also how much they depended on their traditions.

We took Ivy out and about several times. The sunglasses have really helped her in the car. We went to Target on Mommyandivyday and I got her a stuffed bear so she'd have a special car toy -- it's hard to find something safe for a tiny baby, but this (Pooh!) bear has sewn eyes and nose.

We've done quite a bit of work on the house. Our bed arrived, and we got a new boxspring mattress to give it more support. It lifts tiny Ivy high in the air, which she loves. It does seem like it will be a long time before she's able to get into it on her own. More pictures next week.

Though Ivy started out looking just like her dear daddy, her face has changed so much that there's now mommy as well. In the picture on the left, I think she looks more like me, but in the one on the left she looks like Josh -- they were taken within seconds of each other! (The jumper is one of her new dresses from India -- so cute!)

As the movies show, Ivy really likes her swing, and we're really liking her in it. We've been there nearly every day with her, and will as long as the weather is nice (it's been in the upper 60s and low 70s this week). She remains such a laughing, funny baby. She's added a new kkkkkkkkkkkrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhh staticky sound to her repertoire. Whenever she gets a new sound, she just repeats and repeats it. I will try to get it on video for next week.

We're getting ready for conferences at the end of this month and in early March. Ivy and Ollie are not much help -- Ivy just eats Ollie's tail, but Ollie never complains. We're looking forward to Grandma Rachel and Grandpa John coming to visit over spring break.

I love my daddy!
