LA Girl

We had an incredible trip to Los Angeles over Spring Break. I had a good meeting with the editor from Rutgers, both our panels were well received, and we caught up with lots of old friends. We do still have to endure stories about how no-one ever thought we'd last when we see telecommies from UW-Madison. Josh has taken to just pointing to Ivy.

I used my new camera for the first time. And, I made Josh use it too.

She loved swimming in the hotel pool.

But the beach was better.

The water comes up, and Ivy runs away.

Usually, Ivy has more fun with Daddy than with Mommy. Not in this movie! (I'm going to make Josh hold the camera more.)

Ivy and her daddy share a love of flamingos and free samples.

I'm thinking...
about running really fast!

It's important to stay hydrated, even if the water costs eleventeen dollars at the zoo.

Piggy shoulder ride!

Meerkats.

The hotel was extremely luxurious, and they helped decorate.

Ivy has just moved to a new class at Southwood. She's in Stepping Stones II. More Montessori. She'll start pre-kindergarten there in the fall. She will miss her favorite teachers, Miss Ellen and Miss Rania (we wrote Rania's name in the sand), but has lots of friends in her new class and is glad to be a big kid.

We saw my cousin Emily in LA, met her girlfriend, and visited the bookstore where she works. Awesome!
Waiting for our car at the hotel valet parking. Sucky and Ger-Ger loved LA.
The plaza across from the hotel had a Starbucks (!)
And stairs, a fountain, escalators, and cool giant metal sculpture.

Daddy helped me dip my toes in the water.
It was cold!
