Ivy is very, very sick and very, very miserable, as you can tell by her photos this week.

She's
her usual sunny self, of course, but her rash is definitely eczema and
it is definitely pretty ecchy. It is getting better, mostly because her
daddy is really good as slopping on the Aquaphor (recommended by the
doctor and also Dr. Interwebs). It's now just her neck that's
especially bumpy.

We
had a good week this week, but it's hard not having any childcare.
We're just not getting enough done at school, and the less I go to
school the less I want to. At least Ivy can help with the laundry. Ivy
and I play under the window in the living room.
We've
turned her old food drawer into a play drawer in the kitchen (otherwise
we'd be fighting a losing battle to keep her occupied and out of
trouble while we make her many meals). She really likes to open and
close it, and she likes to pull all the toys and kitchen implements out
of it.

She
loves her plushy stack, and her daddy amuses her by putting the duck on
his head like a hat. She pretty much laughs whenever he puts things on
his head.

She
loves to stand and pull things off shelves, whether it's our
bookshelves, her bookshelves, or her changing table. About once a day I
let her demolish her bookshelf. I have to put it back together, and
she's not much help. Today, for the first time, she put a book back,
and she also took her duck off the tub and put it back on several times
during her bath. Her daddy has been waiting for the day she gets as
focused on construction as deconstruction (he's a post-structuralist
himself).

She's
doing her best to thwart our childproofing efforts. She crawled over to
the outlet, put the plug in her mouth, and laughed before I even knew
she had moved.

We
take her on walks in the stroller because we think the bjorn and the
heat irritates her rash. We mostly take her on morning walks now,
before it gets too hot.

We go to the pool together (Auntie Heidi wanted to know if she was cute in her new French bathing suit, and the answer is
mais bien sur)
in the afternoons and play with the ball. She really likes standing and
crawling in the shallow water, and as we walk deeper she picks her feet
up off the bottom and kick kick kicks. She is going to love swimming
with her cousins this coming week.

She likes to chase after her ball, and she can crawl really quickly.

I have no idea why she's not wearing her pants in these photos. I was at work.

You'll be shocked to see that when she finally catches her ball, she puts it in her mouth.

Here are Ivy and her daddy working on their Texas. It's apparently too hot to be classy, and too hot for shirts.

Even
when her daddy dresses her in boy clothes (several people told us that
we had a very cute son when we took her out in this outfit), she
asserts her femininity. She loves my lipstick drawer.
